Should the Jordanian Government implement a Biweekly pay schedule?

It is the same story every year. Jordanians wonder if their salaries are to be paid earlier than usual because some major expenses are nearing. This year, Ramadan will fall on the 21st/22nd of August, which coincides with the start of the new school year. In addition, basic-arithmetic-challenged Jordanians usually spend their salaries in the middle of the month regardless of major spending occasions.

I think the government, and the private sector, should implement a biweekly pay schedule that assures half of the employee's pay is going to be there come the 15th. Although that doesn't lesson from the need for people to show financial restrain a la قد لحافك مد رجليك mantra, it should give people two pay days a month. That's another reason for joy in a country famous for Mansaf and Kashra.

would being paid biweekly matter if your salary is low and prices just keep going up?

btw I know people in Jordan who are paid 300 JD and others who are paid 1700 JD per month, still everyone's complaints are the same (which is hard for me to comprehend). Financial restrain surely plays a role but someone needs to control the inflation of prices cuz from what i heard it's getting ridiculous wel nas elli ma ma3ha 3am betroo7 bein el ejrein.

well.. some private sectors do and its still the same.. la2eno 1) salaries are low.. no matter how much you make.. have one kid at school/university and thats it, ur doomed.. 2, people are crazy.. if this is the income and this is your situation, live it.. dont exceed it! i started with JD160 and could manage to travel to Uzbekistan. and at the same time, people wonder how i can spend money.. with not taking a single from anyone! its just people need to know how to spend their money and where.. just like that jordanian "queen" princess you once tweeted about!! she spends bel 3a2el.. :D she could have done some "en3ash lal eqtesad" el ordone :\

hb, as you said, those with 300 and 1700 still complain. So, the issue is the management of money rather than the quantity, although the lower salary is still a problem no matter how you receive it.

jano, she sure could have done it. but would she have found a sugar daddy in Jordan to give her the money? Or would she have been another honor crime victim?

i meant she could take the american money to here and be the "princess kind and adorable" but yet not fighting the honor killing..

but if she stayed here as you say.. 1st, she would be considered as out of the family tradition (internally) n be married to some sheikh in the region..
