This post was brought to you by a garfan citizen who really cares but disgusted by the incompetence of Jordanian media, social media, and people's love affair with good for nothing "conferences."

ohhhhhhhh now i know why you so insist on staying anonymous :D hehe..alla ygaweek mab3oos...3anjad welcome back..
No bravery to admit like this hajjah. Actually I agree on "هذي حكومة لناس و ناس"
welcome back, I had similar question, reading 7iber.com and many top Jordanian blogs, what have added to the people of Jordan, what are the practical achievements of the blogging process.
Sha5bo6: regarding your comment...I'd say the process does not happen over night. we seem to be focused on needing immediate change and if we don't see the miracle happening right before our eyes then we disregard it. how long have blogs been around in jordan? less than 5 years? how long has social media in general been around; defined perhaps by facebook, twitter, etc? Less than 3? let's keep this in mind, especially when we try and hold social media to the standard of other things, like mainstream media or any other entity that has been around for decades and failed to have much of an impact.
to your specific question. jordanian blogs in general have had an impact, although limited. as the blogosphere continues to grow it will continue to have an impact. being who we are we tend to define impact solely as the ability for a blog to say something and then the very next day those words cause a social or political revolution in the country. that has never happened in human history so i dont know why social media is held to the same standards. however, the impact is gradual and hopefully it will continue. for me, i define impact the impact of social media as the ability for average jordanians to talk about things they couldn't dream of saying out loud before. that alone is a notable achievement and everything else is just a bonus.
as for 7iber, it is not a blog but a platform. it seems to give people a space to tell their own stories rather than it have it told for them in the same manner cleverly outlined by mab3oos in his post above. as an organization, 7iber has held, and continues to hold workshops for capacity building all over Jordan. last year, we had a mobilizing effort done through 7iber where we gathered 60 tons of goods in 48 hours. we mobilized 100 people every day for 3 weeks during israel's war on the strip, to help sort and pack the goods. this was done through 7iber and through jordanian blogs that promoted the cause.
again, it's a process.
join it, contribute, participate.
it beats throwing stones from afar.
thanks :)
