Dear Jordanians, I invite you all to bite me.

Jordan
Labor Force: 1.615 million
Unemployment Rate: ~20%
Unemployed Jordanians: ~320,000
Foreign workers in the country: ~750,000 (Egyptians, Asians, Iraqis, ...)

therefore, before you bitch complain about (as per the new, in-header changes) please try to convince me of how this came to be. Anyways, getting 200-300JD a month is 200-300JD better than 0 a month.

this post was brought to you by the "suck it up" initiative.
Pioneering a breakthrough procedure to surgically remove chairs and desks from young Jordanians' brains using Gamma Knife technologies.
p.s. We are hiring Oncologists to carry out our Was6a biopsy research.

I am not sure if your assessment is accurate. The presence of foreign workers is a global phenomenon not specific to Jordan..Well maybe with the exception that we are not a first or second world country.. The competitiveness of Jordan-I laughed when I wrote competitiveness- will be affected if there was a crack down on those foreign workers, because there will be demand and no supply, as such the capital you need for your work force will grow significantly and this will ultimately lead to price increases in basically everything from food to apartments.

The issue is complex.

saed, You're missing the point يا محترم!

Mohanned, no country of similar economic conditions as Jordan has these proportions. As the supply of labor decreases, pay increases and prices do too. that's correct. Also, the buying power of Jordanians will improve due to higher pay. When buying power improves, standard of living also improves. Therefore, it is eventually a cycle that has a "lived happily ever after" written allover it!

Kinzi, :p

Well, there's more to this. When the umemployed carries an engineerign degree for example he won't wash dishes for 200 Jd's, not only because it's not the most prestigious job in the world but also because h could get stuck washing dishes or doing any of the other job domiated by the foreign workers... would you go for that?

One problem is that universties and colleges do not take into consideration the market need upon admitting students, thousands of doctors and lawyers graduate every year, but for example, we need more nurses... that should be taken into consideration

But, in all fairness, there are jobs, people just have to look harder, perhaps settle for less sometimes, but one can only compromise so much, right? Of course some people have no choice, those who have families to provide for, but when it's a fresh 21 year-old graduate, it's a different story!

200-300 JD aren't anything more than nothing. cuz u're gonna have to get a loan to get by, or borrow money, till u pay them back (with or without interest) its gonna be a while, worrying about making everyday while working like a mule everyday, underpaid, isn't better than nothing, at least when u have nothing you have nothing, but ot supposedly have something and find its nothing?

Ola, people go into college fully aware of what the market needs are. Until when are we supposed to blame universities for mismanagement? There are programs that are aiming at training Jordanians to do skilled labor, such as carpentry, electric work, and others. If you're good at something, you'll be able to make a living out of it no matter what. BTW, I washed dishes after my bachelor. there's nothing wrong with that. you have to make ends meet until you find yourself a job matching your qualifications.

NasEr, are you smoking something?! any salary is better than sitting at home. At least they'll be able to pay for their own expenses.

I'd have to say.. your comments and posts are nothing but a literal description to your nickname.. mab3oos.

The mere fact that you have been tagging negativity would suggest that you are either negative person in life.. or just plain incompetent and try to reason your way through. Either way you're doing it, this entire post sounds like an idiot trying too hard. Good luck fuck face.
